Paignton Zoo
With over 2,500 different animals across the 80 acres, a visit to Paignton Zoo is a wild adventure. Though the zoo is located in South Devon, you’ll be able to explore exotic habitats from around the globe and learn about the animals that call them home. From African elephants of the Savannah grassland to the red pandas of the Chinese bamboo forests, visitors can get up close and personal with some of the worlds most inspiring creatures.

Living Coasts
A sister attraction to Paignton Zoo, the Living Coasts zoo and aquarium explores the wonderful world of craggy sea-cliffs and briny ocean depths, giving visitors an opportunity to get up close to some of the worlds most fascinating creatures.
This all-weather attraction is perched on the end of the harbour at Torquay and offers excellent sea views, though, with the penguins, seals, exotic fish and other amazing birds, mammals and marine life to meet, you probably won’t even notice! Chill out with the penguins on their very own beach, explore a sunken ship in search of octopi and lionfish or crawl under the starfish tank to see what they look like from underneath – the choice is yours, but no matter your preference you won’t be lacking things to do!
Why not round off the day with a locally sourced meal at the aquarium restaurant and cafe? Perched right on the water, you’ll struggle to find a lunch spot with a better view.
Totnes Rare Breeds Farm
This family-owned attraction, while small in size, is big on unique experiences. This open farm aims to help preserve endangered farm animals and other British wildlife and so a visit is likely to result in meeting breeds you may have never seen in-person before!
From hedgehogs to red squirrels and from pygmy goats to corn snakes, all the animals at Totnes Rare Breeds Farm are friendly and are always happy to come and say hello – as the staff themselves say, their red squirrels will literally throw themselves at you for a peanut! Also be on the lookout for Wizard the eagle owl, the self-proclaimed star of the farm who loves to put on a show for visitors. Don’t be fooled by his regal exterior however, he’s a big softie really!
