It’s the time of year when we’re all thinking about changes, new experiences… and summer holidays! At Galmpton Touring Park, there is so much to see and do you’ll be spoilt for choice come the warmer weather. We open just in time for the Easter Break, and offer great deals and discounts for early bookers.
In Brixham and the surrounding areas along the English Riviera there are attractions, excursions, events and days out a-plenty, and as we are a family-based holiday park, we thought we’d give you a taster of some of our favourite things to do with the kids.
Babbacombe Model Village
Just 30 minutes away from Galmpton, the Babbacombe Model Village is a spectacle to behold!
This perfect replica of a mini village has been built and maintained with passion since 1963. You can even bring your dog along to explore a charming stroll through the tiny streets and houses.
The spectacular gardens cover nearly four acres, and are constantly maintained by a team of professional gardeners who keep them vibrant and to scale. Once you have finished exploring, you can grab a bite to eat in the aptly named ‘Gulliver’s Tearoom’, which serves sandwiches, cakes, snacks and a wide range of refreshments.
Splashdown Quaywest Waterpark
Just 10 minutes away from the Park, on the seafront at Goodrington Sands, this huge waterpark (the biggest in the UK) offers a brilliant fun-filled family day out. Although best reserved for the warmer weather, Splashdown has something for everyone, with 8 flume rides, a swimming area, sun terraces and an arcade.
Dartmouth Steam Rail & Riverboat Company
Leave the car behind and explore some great travel alternatives with the Dartmouth Steam, Rail & Riverboat Company. Travel along the South Devon coastline and take in the views on a steam train, boat or paddle steamer. They also offer day trips and excursions to see Torquay, Paignton, Brixham, Dartmouth and the River Dart, Kingswear and Totnes from the water.
Good Intent Ice Cream Parlour
If you take a trip to nearby Dartmouth, we highly recommend a visit to The Dartmouth Ice Cream Company’s parlour, which has been in business since 1928!
Situated overlooking the harbour, this lovely little parlour serves 22 flavours of ice cream, all made with local ingredients. This old-fashioned shop has kept its traditional atmosphere and provides a small taste of history – making it all the more welcoming and worth the visit. As well as the ice cream and homemade fudge, you will also find traditional confectionery, own-label preserves, biscuits, shortbreads, pickles and chutneys.
Battlefield Live Torbay
For the more energetic holiday-maker (and great for older kids), visit Battlefield Live in Torbay, just 5 minutes away from Galmpton Touring Park. This action-packed laser quest centre asks “why play Call of Duty at home when you can play it for real?” – a sentence that sums up the experience perfectly.
On Saturdays, there is Bootcamp – an open session for 8 to 16 years old that runs for 90 minutes from 9.30am – 11am. From 12pm onwards, the session is open for all ages, provided there are at least people booked to play. (Sunday’s Bootcamp is open from 10am – 11.30am for ages 8 and up). For £20.00, you can include Mini Golf or Footgolf to your experience, perfect for winding down after all that running around, or for those who want to take a more leisurely approach to their visit.
